We, therefore, find the Mont Blanc area, to which the socalled “Valdigne” belongs with the municipalities of La Salle, Morgex, Pré-Saint-Didier, La Thuile, and Courmayeur; the Monte Rosa area, with the Ayas valley and the Gressoney valley, with the characteristic villages of the Walser populations: The Monte Cervino area, one of the largest international ski resorts in the Alps, Breuil-Cervinia-Valtournenche-Zermatt; that of the Gran Paradiso which, in addition to the National Park includes the valleys of Cogne, Valsavarenche, Rhêmes, and Valgrisende. In Val D’Aosta it is possible to practice all winter sports on the snow: alpine skiing, free ride, snowboarding, freestyle, crosscountry skiing, ski touring, ski mountaineering, telemark, heliskiing, kite surfing. The 28 Valle d’Aosta ski resorts are stateof-the-art, with modern, efficient, and safe ski lifts. It has hundreds of cableways for over 700 kilometres of downhill slopes, around 400 kilometres of cross-country trails, acrobatic surfing facilities,138 stunning Nordic ski slopes, and over 1,200 instructors. Several ski resorts also have Foyer de fond with waxing ski rooms, warm changing rooms, showers and other services. Snowparks are present in almost all ski resorts. A natural paradise is a great place for winter sports, but not only: the Aosta Valley has, in fact, an exceptional historical, artistic, and ethnographic heritage. Here, precisely in the capital Aosta, is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Europe: the megalithic area of Saint-Martin-de-Corléans. Valle d’Aosta also has another nickname: “land of castles”, because in the smallest region of Italy there are over 120 men, forts, and dungeons, all harmoniously embedded in the nature that surrounds them. Around the wonderful manors, there are also picturesque medieval villages with a fairy-tale atmosphere like Bard, Eìtroubles, and La Salle.
