91 Livigno is the most important winter sports resort of Lombardy and one of the most important in the Alps, furthermore it is an Italian enclave in the northern Alps. Situated between Switzerland and Italy, in a valley surrounded by the Stelvio National Park and Engadina, it is positioned at 1800 metres above sea level. The valley extends for more than 23 km of mountain ranges that reach a height of 3000 metres, inside is the village of Livigno, famous for its characteristics elongated shape: a continuing strip of wood and stone houses, a district that still keeps, through time, the characteristics of the surrounding environment the cultural and architectural Alpine culture. Livigno is known as the “Little Tibet”for its similarity to the Himalayan region: in fact the area is on a plateau surrounded by inaccessible mountains. Thanks to its particular geographic position, Livigno guarantees perfectly snow-clad ski slopes from November to May. The accommodation facilities include 104 hotels, 11 luxury hotels, 25 garni and more than 1000 apartments, for a total of 1.000.000 beds, this place it as one of the top destinations for Alpine holidays.
