85 The Dolomites, with their majestic mountainous beauty, cradle many valleys of extraordinary charm. Among the jewels nestled in these enchanting places, the Val di Fassa stands out, a Ladin tradition valley located in north-eastern Trentino, embraced by the scenic presence of the Marmolada, the Sella Group, the Sassolungo, and the Cantinaccio. This valley, crossed by the tranquil Avisio River, hosts seven main towns, each with its unique personality and allure: Moena, known as “the fairy of the Dolomites,” boasts a picturesque historic centre where you can admire the churches of San Volfango and San Vigilio. Mazzin, the smallest municipality in Val di Fassa, is known as the village of “pitores” and is home to the valley’s only rustic-manorial manor, “Cèsa Battel.” Vigo di Fassa, the location of the Ladino de Fascia Museum and the Ladino Cultural Institute.
